The recurrent nova is discovered in outburst by Mike Linnolt, Hawaii, US, at a visual magnitude of 13.0 on 2011 Apr 14.2931 UT, which is later confirmed by A. Plummer and S. Kerr. It is the first outburst of T Pyx since Dec 7, 1966, nearly 45 years. Details c.f. AAVSO Alert Notice 436.
