magnitude is linearly increasing as it heads towards its perihelion along its
path.
Gauss curve produced by
Astrometrica. The total PSF is using an aperture circle of
2 x
2 pixel around the brightest
pixel, which is, I am afraid, insufficient as the
size of coma increases. Taking this factor into
consideration, I surmise that the lightcurve should have shown a steeper
upclimbing slope as time passes. We can see the
computed Gauss curve
in the right and the real pixels
distributing narrowly deviating from the
ideal line. The Fit RMS, which inlays
under the Gauss curve, is the deviation from the ideal line.
By adding space vectors, I fed the data to
FindOrb to calculate the orbital elements for 249P with which I compared against
the orbital solution calculated from ground-based observations. Amazingly, there
are only some trivial differences.

I employed Comets for Windows
to plot the following graph with all the above data. We can see that the
magnitude is steadily increasing as it moves towards its perihelion.
Gauss curve produced by
Astrometrica. The total PSF is using an aperture circle of
2 x
2 pixel around the brightest
pixel. We can see the
computed Gauss curve
in the right and the real pixels
distributing somewhat deviating from the
ideal line. The Fit RMS, which inlays
under the Gauss curve, is the deviation from the ideal line.
